Much like breathing, worship is cyclical. We inhale the fullness of God – His truth, the love He has for us, the freedom found in pursuing Him – and then we exhale praise for God. This taking in and pouring out is the overflow of regular communion with Jesus. Charlie explores why fellowship with the Father is so critical throughout the course of this model.
Worship teams unite the body in order to give God glory, but this doesn’t mean the worship teams themselves are always a united front. Conflict is normal and part of doing life with others; but when a community’s foundation is weak, conflict can create irreparable rifts. Charlie offers his vision for spiritual friendship and speaks to the necessity for a firm foundation when doing ministry together.
Caring for our souls is often something we try as a last resort, when things are starting to break and our lives feel frayed at the edges. But what if resting our souls became our first resort? What if we trusted God to honor our rest by making our productive times fruitful and our sabbath times refreshing? Charlie shares his insights on all this and encourages worship teams to value the ordinariness of resting.
A believer’s relationship with the world can flourish when God-given creativity and talent are used to glorify His name and bring beauty into broken places. Charlie expounds on the difference between “calling” and “work” in this episode. He offers fresh perspective and encourages us to navigate questions of calling alongside our community.
