Once we recognize the magnitude of God’s gifts to us, we must also recognize the command to use them. Our distinct skills and talents aren’t supposed to collect dust; if they did, this would be an immense loss for us and the Kingdom. In the first part of this devotional, Scott Cunningham uses scripture to explain why stewardship is key to a thriving worship ministry.
Scott provides an exhortation for anyone wrestling with feelings of fear, insignificance, or insecurity. He points to some of the greats in the early church and notes that they too had to overcome doubt and timidity in order to serve with boldness.
The need to be noticed is part of our human nature. However, the body and the church are most edified when we lay down our egos and let God take center stage. Walking this out is easier said than done, but Scott reassures us we’re not alone.
It should come as no surprise that the enemy seeks to distract us from Kingdom work. We can vigilantly watch out for him, but it’s exhausting to do this alone. In the last video for this devotion, Scott invites us to pray for each other and bear one another’s burdens. Together, we can diffuse the anxiety that comes with being on the frontlines of spiritual warfare.
